The aim of the new International Development Studies programme in English is to prepare professionals for careers in development policy and practice. The duration of the programme is 2 years. Students will be awarded the title of “Magister”, abbreviated as “Mgr.” which is equivalent to Master of Science (M.Sc.).
Upon successful completion of the programme students will be equipped to work in public sector as well as in private industry both at the national and international levels. The graduate students may be employed in institutions which collaborate on the programmes of development and humanitarian assistance. Students can also find the opportunity to work as experts in projects run in developing countries, especially by organizing and administering the projects both in the donor and in the target country. In addition, they can find the career in governmental and non-governmental sector, in international organizations (e.g. the UN agencies, including FAO, UNICEF, UNHCR, UNEP, UNDP, UNCTAD, UNHCR etc.), in the European Union institutions, in diplomatic service, as well as in academia.
Admission requirements
- Successfully completed undergraduate degree (preferably in subject relevant to international development; however, candidates with other specializations will also be considered)*
- Good academic performance
- Two academic letters of recommendation
- Motivation letter (max. 1000 words)
- Structured curriculum vitae
- English language proficiency certificate on B2 Common European Framework level (e.g. IELTS – an overall band of 5.0 with no less than 5.0 in each component skill)**
- Completed application form
* Officially certified copy of your diploma and a copy of transcripts (shall be requested from the college and/or university you attended) must be sent together with other documents to prove the successful completion of the previous studies. In case of lack of these documents, student won’t be considered as valid applicant. Students who are still enrolled at bachelor programme at the time of the application shall send the official transcripts. Certified copy of the diploma must then be delivered at the beginning of the academic year.
** An official English language certificate (e.g. TOEFL, FCE, ....) is required unless whole or part of the bachelor study programme was completed in English language.
